Enterprise Foundry

The foundry known as Dominion Foundry Company (established in 1872)was sold to William Shives Fisher in 1888. It became the Enterprise Foundry, which was located near the Inter-Colonial railway station and the former Sackville wharf.

The Enterprise Foundry is designated as a local historic place because of the huge number of buildings it had, the number of people it employed, and its significant impact on the economy of the area.

The foundry flourished and produced a diverse variety of goods, particularly during war time. It had its own sales organizations and distribution houses from coast to coast.

By 1975 the foundry employed 400 people. The Fisher family owned it till 1982 when it went into receivership.
