The Fawcett Foundry was established in 1852 by John Fawcett and his son George. It started initially as a tin-working shop but gradually by 1870 it grew into a foundry that built stoves, ranges etc. It was one of the largest employers in the town of Sackville. Its business flourished with the coming of Inter-Colonial Railway because Fawcett stoves and other products could now be shipped nationally and internationally (White Fence #82). Hong Kong Kitchen is at the corner of the street. In 1950s many Chinese immigrants came to New Brunswick.
