Loyalty is more than a characteristic of an individual. It is the mindset that colors your behavior, your mannerism, your way of thinking and acting. It is more than kindness, love or compassion. It is your willingness to make sacrifices big or small for those to whom you are loyal.
"Loyalty" is a part of the series on my core values. As I was reflecting on 'loyalty' as one of my core values, I had to think hard how best to portray it. Years ago when I taught my grade, six students, there was a poem in one of our books about a homeless man and his dog. The moral dilemma for the homeless and friendless man was to keep his dog or give him up so at least his best friend wouldn't starve to death. I was reminded of this story. The painting speaks of the loyalty of two best friends despite the cold and unfriendly Canadian winter and the desperation of their struggle for survival.
Loyalty is more than a characteristic, I think. "Real family does not come from blood. It is the people standing beside you when no one else is." - Anonymous
Salt marsh watercolor paintings really began to emerge on a consistent basis when in the fall of 2017 I decided to take up the challenge of painting 30 paintings in 30 days. I started these salt marsh watercolor paintings focusing on the theme of my core values. Loyalty is one of my core values.
As you look at this salt marsh watercolor painting, you will see that pale colors in the background and shades of grey communicate the message of isolation and desolation of the homeless man and his dog. With minimal use of color this salt marsh water color presents a touching and stark reality of the dilemma of a homeless person.

Knowing where one wants to go, setting the goal and focusing on it are important in order to succeed. If one can eliminate distractions and stay focused on a single goal, success is not hard to attain. Sometimes it takes a young six-year old to remind us of this. It is based on a true story.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
