The Story Behind

Article: Black & white print on Lenox acid free paper
Image size: 12″x12″, Paper size: 15″X15.75″, Framed: 20″X20″

Based on a true story. It is a part of the series, “Lessons Learned from Six-year Olds”. Each piece is hand-printed by the artist. 50% from the sale of this print is donated to mental health.

One day my six-year old granddaughter Shaela and I were walking down to the park where there is a children’s play area. The park has swings, slides, sand box etc.

She picked up three little buttercups. The flowers had stems hardly long enough for her to hold them. With a broad smile on her face she gave them to me.

It was as if the flowers were a token of her gratitude.

As she was holding my hand and walking towards the park, she proceeded to tell me that she felt really lucky to have a grandmother who would do so many things with her, such as, draw, paint, do ceramics, bake, make her favorite foods, go to the park, read stories etc.

I was complete taken aback. What six-year old child takes time to thank someone for what s/he may have done for her?

It made me realize that even as adults we simply take things for granted and don’t stop to express our gratitude for little gestures of kindness.

If only we could live with an attitude of gratitude, we would look at the positive things in our life and feel blessed.

I am reminded of Norman Vincent Peal's words, “The more you practise the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.”

Knowing where one wants to go, setting the goal and focusing on it are important in order to succeed. If one can eliminate distractions and stay focused on a single goal, success is not hard to attain. Sometimes it takes a young six-year old to remind us of this. It is based on a true story.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
