The Story Behind

This black and white print is a part of the series, “Lessons Learned from Six-year Olds”.

The inspiration for this print entitled, 'Focus' came from my six-year old granddaughter, Shaela. Her story is a reminder that it is extremely important to have a clear focus of what where we want to go in life. Without a clear focus, life is like a rudderless ship.

Shaela wanted to skate and play hockey ever since she was 4 years old. She asked her mother if she had been registered for hockey. Well, she was too young, so my daughter hadn't registered her.

The following year Shaela didn't ask if her mother had registered her. Instead she declared, "Well Mom, I'm playing hockey whether you register me or not!", and she did. She has been playing hockey ever since then!

She is extremely focused on what she wants and gives it her 100% to anything she undertakes. She is in it to win it.

The story doesn't end here. One day Shaela was standing behind her one and half year old cousin who was trying to climb the stairs but couldn't get her leg up the step. Shaela watcher her for a few minutes and then she said firmly,"Focus, focus, focus". Shaela knew from her own personal experience that by focusing completely on the task at hand she had been able to do what she had set out to do.

This is Shaela's secret recipe for success. Unwavering focus on what one intends to do along with 100% effort.

Isn't that an amazing message for all?

Knowing where one wants to go, setting the goal and focusing on it are important in order to succeed. If one can eliminate distractions and stay focused on a single goal, success is not hard to attain. Sometimes it takes a young six-year old to remind us of this. It is based on a true story.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
